ANTONIO DEL DRAGO (fl. c.1800)
TOURISTS IN THE GROTTO OF NEPTUNE, TIVOLI
Watercolour with gouache and pencil
53 x 79 cm
Antonio del Drago is unrecorded in contemporary literature, and is known to us through a series of signed watercolours in the Devonshire Collections at Chatsworth. It is possible that he was a student of Abraham-Louis-Rodolphe Ducros, as his work is indebted to the Swiss artist's own large-scale watercolours of popular tourist sites in and around Rome.
